These are two I.C.A.R. contract Bundeswehr pocketknives (a.k.a. GAK - German Army Knife), one with a broken reamer. Purchased at the cost of $7 each, they will be used to make a "Mauser" type knife.
The knives disassembled.
New pins have been made and parts have been
trial fitted together. Note that there are still two corkscrews on the
knife. |
|
The extra corkscrew has been cut off, leaving only the tang to act as a spacer.
What I refer to as a "Scagel" style nail nick has been cut into the outside blade.
Completed "Poorman's Mauser" with the outside blade "clipped" and original issue scales replaced.
My Poorman's Mauser shown with a true Victorinox Mauser.
The issue scale has been slotted to hold a pair of Victorinox tweezers and the corkscrew holds a mini-screwdriver.
A view of clip-point blade closed. |
