A few months ago, with some help from a couple of SOSAK members and our own Felinevet I managed to get a hold of an excellent piece to act as a centerpiece for my collection- a sealed display case featuring six different discontinued 108mm Safari series SAKs and a leather 108mm pouch.

Included in the case is a Hunter, stag scaled Hunter, Pathfinder, Safari, Trooper and a single bladed Adventurer, which we ordinarily refer to in SOSAK as the Solo, a name it was more commonly associated with. The sheath is listed as being a “Summit Pouch Cordovan Leather” and has a belt loop, velcro closure and a small lanyard hole at the top. I'm not sure exactly what benefit the small hole gives, but I am sure a hundred or so members will email me with ideas after reading this!

For those not familiar with the various models, here's a quick breakdown of them:

Naturally I am thrilled with this acquisition, and while it is in fantastic shape, there are a couple of minor frustrations for a collector like myself-  the Pathfinder and two Hunters' saws have folded in during shipping, making them appear to be only two bladed knives. As it is sealed, I have no way of getting into it to open these implements back up, and so they will have to stay that way unfortunately.

Many thoughts on the matter have come up on the forum, including busting the case open and fixing them, or busting it open and using the knives, but I have decided to leave it as is since I have duplicates of all the knives inside if I really wanted to carry/use one, I would just use one of them.  To me at least, this case is worth more intact, even with the folded blades, than the knives would be individually- which is saying a lot as these are some pretty sweet knives!
